Our new Merino Yarn

Posted by Andrew Bowman at

Here at Wooltops HQ we have been excitedly unpacking our latest delivery of yarn ... ‘organically farmed fine Merino’!

We are currently working with John Arbon Textiles who produce some super-soft, high quality yarns for us.  They spin it at their traditional worsted Mill in North Devon (one of only a handful of small-scale worsted spinning and processing Mills still operating in the UK).

We pride ourselves in the traceability of our fibre.   So we hand pick the organically farmed Merino from farms in the Falklands and then it is spun up into a beautiful yarn for us by John.  Here are some photos of the Mill in action whipping up our Merino tops and processing to yarn.

Being able to visit the Mill and watch the process from fibre to yarn is fascinating.  Knowing exactly what our product journeys through means we have a great story to tell.  Having it lovingly worsted spun here in the UK really does do the 19.5 fine micron justice.

Keep a look out for more British spun yarn from Wooltops.
