Merino sheep are renowned for having the softest fibre of any sheep breed, with plenty of crimp. Our Merino is organically farmed in the Falkland Islands – ensuring that the animals have been treated with the utmost care and are free from harmful mulesing.
Merino wants to be spun fine.
To produce a thick yarn, spin several thin, nicely twisted strands and then ply them together.
Merino is a wonderful fiber for lightweight soft, and often delicate fabrics.
It is a classic fiber for shawl, vests, and (with enough twist to wear well) baby garments.
Best know for their large quantities of fine, soft, highly crimped wool with elasticity and resilience.
